About the course

Active Shooter Response is a training program designed to teach individuals how to respond in the event of an active shooter situation. The class typically covers the following topics:

  1. Understanding the threat: An overview of the statistics and patterns of active shooter incidents and the motivations behind them.
  2. Survival strategies: An explanation of the three key strategies for surviving an active shooter situation: evacuate, hide, and fight.
  3. Evacuation: A discussion of the best practices for safely exiting a building during an active shooter incident, including using stairwells, crawling under desks, and avoiding windows.
  4. Hiding: A discussion of the best practices for hiding in place during an active shooter incident, including locking doors, turning off lights, and remaining quiet.
  5. Fighting: A discussion of the last resort option of fighting back during an active shooter incident, including using improvised weapons and working as a team.
  6. Law enforcement response: An overview of the role of law enforcement in responding to active shooter incidents, including the use of SWAT teams, crisis negotiation teams, and other specialized units.

The goal of the class is to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively and safely in the event of an active shooter situation and to increase their chances of survival. The class is taught by law enforcement and military personnel to include Power Point Presentation, Simulations and Drills to reinforce the training.
